Depending upon your structure, LLC, Corp, Sole Proprietor is a good trigger point for most companies according to most insurance agents. Personally, no matter your business structure, I recommend you carry workers compensation, even if you have NO employees. Why? Most health insurance policies carry exclusionary language that prevents payment for work related injuries. So, if you are a one-man consultant, driving to an appointment and are injured in an accident, there is a chance that your health insurance provider would deny the claim due to it being “work related”. Workers Compensation for most classes is very low cost. Don’t risk it, buy the “comp”.
